The spring equinox arrived when we were on the hard and it was as if someone had flipped a switch and turned on summer. It galvanised us into action to get the boat ready for the season.
Although we hadn't lifted out for two years, the only job that had to be done was to replace a worn cutlass bearing. The local chandler miraculously had one our size in stock. With the help of Curt from S/Y Vigo and his gadget to remove a prop, the old one finally came out.
To convince ourselves never to go to sea again, we watched a sobering demo of a liferaft launch and Leighton experienced for himself how difficult it is to get in one - and that's on a sunny day in calm water. Thanks to Curt and Bettina for demo-ing their old liferaft.
